Features at the new CSU San Bernandino College of Education include a new student services area, literacy center, evaluation and assessment center, technology integration lab, four large computer labs, technology support center, “smart” classrooms, 110 faculty offices, wireless network access, mini-student store, duplicating center and 15 lecture classrooms, among others.
The new College of Education building alleviates the chronic space shortages in classrooms and laboratories as well as addresses the clinical and technological needs of the College’s past-baccalaureate and graduate programs. The new building brings together faculty, staff, classrooms and laboratories in the same building, thus improving the functioning of departments. Students have improved access to laboratories, study areas, program services and faculty offices.
The project was designed by LPA Architects and measures 81,300 assignable square feet (130,000 gross square feet) over three stories. Barnhart team members include Mike Barnum, John McDonald, Greg Gardiner, Greg Crowder and Joyce Chase.
